Temperature

The nearest reliable meteorological station to the Nandi Hills appears to be Banglaore. Average daily maximum and minimum temperatures are shown on the Figure left – temperatures closer to the Nandi Hills will be several degrees lower.

Following October pruning, temperatures drop slightly for the remainder of the year, before rising sharply in the New Year. Temperatures peak in April, which is earlier than in much of the Deccan Plateau wine region. Minimum temperatures rarely drop below 15 degrees C.

Rainfall

Between May and October there is regular rainfall in Bangalore, with the peak monthly rainfall of close to 250mm occurring in September. The arrival of rain in May causes the temperatures to decline, as seen above. Although areas closer to the Nandi Hills may be in a partial rain shadow, the overall trends remain. Very low rainfall between November and March necessitates irrigation techniques.
