Deccan Plateau Wineries is the brainchild of Nitin Shinde, who has studied wine making in Australia and the USA. He acquired 20 acres of farmland outside Pune which are now planted with classic varietals and also established the winery. This utilitarian, if unattractive, building is equipped with modern stainless steel fermentation and storage tanks with a processing capacity of 130,000 litres.
The first vintage was in 2008 and they currently produce five red, one white and one rose table wine.
